E Package Apache2 Has No Ation Candidate Dashboard Update Command IsThe apt-get update command is successful (on the console it says it is Done). The exact messages are: The program airmon-ng is currently not installed. You can install it by typing: I am pretty new to ubuntu so I am not really sure what I am doing. I dont know if I have to enable universe or what I should do. I am not sure if it matters but I am also running Ubuntu from my flash drive so maybe that is the problem. However, this seems to be happening lately with all the packages I try to install.I checked the Synaptic Package Manager and reloaded and rebooted the computer, but to no avail. The network connection works ok but I cant seem to get this to work: sudo apt-get install ruby1.9.2 I want the latest version of Ruby. Is this because I havent enabled some repository or something - I dimly recall having to enable universe before now. I either get a E: Unable to locate package, or E: Package has no installation candidate For example when I type sudo apt-get install emacs23, I get this output: Quote: Reading package lists. Done E: Unable to locate package emacs23 And the synaptics package manager only lists the packages I already have. I searched these forums and googled my error message, but I couldn t find anything helpful. It gives me this: Code: adrianadrian-desktop: sudo apt-get install covergloobus Reading package lists. I just installed ubuntu on an old desktop and cannot get it to install packages. I installed these same packages on my laptop that is a little newer and it works on the laptop, but it wont work on the desktop. I searched for previous threads and found to try Code: I also tried this many times and nothing has changed Code. And I have a full almost brand new installation maverick meerkat. To suit my needs, I have to install the gcc C compiler in this environment. When connected under root, I enter the command: apt-get install gcc. The error E: unable to locate package gcc is then displayed on screen. If I dowbload a tar file, where should I copy it to to be able to have the install application see it.
